Corey Stevens BA (Hons)
Anma Movement Therapist

Anma is believed to have come into Japan from China some 2000 years ago and was refined into Japanese methods. The ancient scrolls of this Japanese physical therapy have been passed down in an unbroken chain to the present day residing with Dr Masaaki Hatsumi the 34th Grandmaster of Nine schools of Budo warrior craft movement strategies. Dr.Hatsumi broke with Tradition in 1995 when he granted full teaching rights, to the ancient school of Hi Chi Bu Ku Goshin Jutsu to a westerner – Dennis Bartram. Corey has been studying the Budo Arts since 2002 and Anma with Dennis since 2006.

The quality of our life is closely linked to the quality of our movements. If you are restricted in any of your movements from head to toe then Anma may be able to help. Movement can be restricted anywhere, due to endless reasons including all types of injuries, poor posture, pregnancy, surgery, one sided sports and more.

Anma involves soft tissue releases at critical anatomical points affecting the ancient limbic brain and its balancing influence on the upright walking body. This therapeutic approach enhances natural movement, correcting imbalances that prevent flowing, integrated body movement in all directions. Anma is utilized to maintain our balance and   symmetry, thereby preventing disease. Anma can be used to assist people of all ages from the newborn to the very advanced and it can be as gentle or as forceful as required by the client and their condition.
